No Peace for the War Makers! Protest Day 4 of the RNC
Protest Day 4 of the Republican National Convention
No peace for the war-makers! U.S. OUT OF IRAQ!
4pm @ the MN State Capital, followed by a march to the Xcel Center
September 4th is the final day of the Republican National Convention, and the party plans to nominate John McCain, who supports endless occupation in Iraq and has threatened war with Iran. McCain has also promised to extend the war at home by making Bush's tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans permanent and by expanding free trade policies that benefit corporations while exploiting workers and the environment. If McCain is elected, he will continue spending billions of our tax dollars on war and occupation while ignoring desperate human needs at home.
The rich and powerful who run this country, want to maintain an empire for their own selfish ends. They will keep fueling this war, no matter the cost to us. But the Iraqis can't afford to wait any longer, and neither can we. We must send a message to the world: The American people reject this war for oil and corporate control of the Middle East.
On September 4, the Republican Party will gather to officially nominate John McCain for president. On the streets outside the convention, we must storm the stage of history and say no to the brutal, criminal war that's being carried out in our name. Together, we have the power to change the shape of things to come. As long as this war drags on, business as usual must come to an end.
On Thursday, September 4 at 4 pm, we will rally at the MN State Capitol and march on the Xcel Center where a diversity of tactics will be utilized to resist war and injustice creatively and directly. We have an obligation to the people of Iraq, and to ourselves, to do whatever it takes to oppose this war. September 4 is the day. The RNC is the place. No peace for the warmakers!
