The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued the first test orders for pesticide chemicals to be screened for their potential effects on the endocrine system. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interact with and disrupt the hormones produced or secreted by human and animal endocrine systems, which regulate growth, metabolism and reproduction.

These changes are in response to a growing grassroots movement to oppose toxic pesticides and raise the alarm about the health risks of endocrine disruptors, found in pesticides and other consumer products.

Besides the 2009 Mayoral race, anything else interesting happening? Depends on your enthusiasm about electoralism; three open seats at least means an open field in some places. The professional media hasn't really feigned much interest, except for MPR, the Daily Planet and the Minnesota Independent. It's almost like the political-media complex doesn't like to advertise the risky end of traditional elections in the city. At least, here's links to everyone!

Longtime DFLer Susan Howitz Hanna is in, "Independent DFLer" Larry Ranallo just got the "Police Officer Fedration" [sic] endorsement. The Union Concerned Scientists issued an argument by argument debunking of the "Global Cooling" section of the new book, SuperFreakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner. The chapter's positions are typical of those used bythe global climate denier movement to stall action on climate solutions like clean energy, renewable power and more sustainable business practices.

UCS spokesperson, Aaron Huertas, says the book "features a chapter that grossly mischaracterizes climate science."
